SEOUL: North Korea will launch a navy strike instantly in response to any provocation, Kim Yo Jong, the sister and key ally of chief Kim Jong Un, stated on Sunday (Jan 7), because it fired artillery shells close to its border with the South for the third day in a row.
The remarks come after South Korea’s navy stated the North had fired more than 60 artillery rounds on Saturday close to their disputed maritime border, following a similar volley of more than 200 the day prior to this.
North Korea once more fired about 90 rounds on Sunday, the South stated. The North’s military stated they didn’t pose any risk to the South because the firing drill was carried out parallel to the border.
