South Africa’s former finance minister, Pravin Gordhan, has died on the age of 75, his household mentioned.
The anti-apartheid veteran has been in South African politics since 1994 when the nation was transitioning to democracy.
He occupied strategic positions within the South African authorities till he introduced his retirement from politics in Might.
The veteran cupboard minister died early Friday in hospital after “a brief, brave battle with most cancers”, his household mentioned in a press release.
It added that he was “surrounded by his household, closest associates and his lifelong comrades within the liberation wrestle” when he handed away within the early hours this morning”.
He’s survived by his spouse Vanitha and their daughters Anisha and Priyesha.
